The classes will be used for presentation and discussion of (a) the general principles of instrument design, (b) design features and proper operation of specific analytical instruments used in modern chemical analysis, (c) selection of appropriate instrumentation for the task at hand and (d) quality and reliability of data generated by analytical instruments. Members of the class and guest lecturers will share with the instructor the responsibility for presenting various instrumental techniques with which they have particular familiarity and/or interest. Following is a general outline of the course. Please note the dates scheduled for exams.
