Constitution
The contract between the Renewable Energy Club and the Student Government Association of Connecticut College.
- NAME
The name of this organization shall be the Renewable Energy Club.
- PURPOSE
The purpose of this organization is to:
- convert Connecticut College from its current energy system to renewable, more sustainable forms of energy,
- maintain and ensure this conversion once it has taken effect,
- continuously educate the campus on efficient energy use.
- MEMBERSHIP
- Membership may not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, age, religion, national or ethnic origin, visible or invisible disability, or status as a disabled veteran or veteran of the Vietnam war.
- Voting membership is open to all matriculated students of Connecticut College.
- Non-voting membership is open to faculty, staff, administration and their families.
- Membership not provided for in Article III, Sections 1 and 2 shall not exceed 10% of the total registered membership.
- Voting members must be registered with the club in order to cast a vote in a meeting.
- ORGANIZATION
Officers shall consist of 2 co-chairs, a treasurer, a secretary, and a public relations officer.
- DUTIES OF THE OFFICERS
- The co-chairs will be responsible for:
- running the meetings
- maintaining a voting list
- maintaining relations with faculty and staff
- maintaining and furthering relations with energy suppliers
- maintaining participation in the Environmental Modeling Committee.
- The treasurer is responsible for all financial records and transactions of the Renewable Energy Club.
- The secretary is responsible for the records of each meeting the Renewable Energy Club.
- The public relations officer is responsible for advertising and informing the community of all events and functions of the Renewable Energy Club.
- NOMINATIONS FOR ELECTIONS
- Elections shall be held at the second to the last meeting of the spring semester.
- Nominations will be received by the voting members.
- Winners shall be chosen by a simple majority in a secret ballot election.
- AMENDMENTS
- Amendments must be presented to all voting members in writing before the proposed vote.
- Amendments must be approved by a simple majority of the voting members
- Amendments must be approved by the Student Government Association.
- RATIFICATION
The Student Government Association must ratify this Constitution.
