CONSTITUTION OF THE INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ASSOCIATION - ATLAS
(last revised 2006-2007)
Article I. NAME The name of this organization shall be the ATLAS.
Article II. PURPOSE To contribute to the community of students of all nationalities at Connecticut College To appeal to all students interested in different cultures through activities planned to facilitate cultural exchange. To secure a level of international awareness on campus through cultural activities.
Article III: MEMBERSHIP Membership may not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, orientation, age, religion, national, or ethnic origin, visible or invisible disabilities, or status as a disabled veteran or veteran of Vietnam War. Voting membership is open to all matriculated students of Connecticut College. Non-voting membership is open to faculty, staff, administration, and their families. Voting members must be registered with the club in order to cast a vote in a meeting.
Article IV: Organization Officers shall consist of: Two Co-chairs A treasurer A Cultural Chair A SAC Representative A Public Relation Officer Webmaster Freshmen Representatives
Article V: DUTIES OF THE EXECUTIVE BOARD OFFICERS
CO-CHAIRS shall be responsible for: Maintaining a voting list and a list
of transactions with other clubs and the SGA The financial organization
of the club Organizing and conducting meetings Ensuring the continuation
of the club, its goals, and membership Other activities related to the club's
purpose
TREASURER shall be responsible for: The club s budget and finance Maintaining
an accurate ledger, collecting and remitting receipts, and reporting to
the president on a timely basis about the financial status of the club
CULTURAL CO-CHAIRS shall provide cultural perspectives to ATLAS and its
events. WEBMASTER shall look after the website and the publicity of the
club.
ACTIVITY CO-CHAIRS shall plan and coordinate ATLAS activities.
PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER shall promote the awareness of ATLAS through various
media.
FRESHMEN REPRESENTATIVES shall act as a liaison of the club and the freshmen
class.
Article VI: NOMINATIONS FOR ELECTIONS Elections shall be held in April to elect officers for the following year. Nominations will be received from self nominations from the eligible voting members. Winners will be chosen by simple majority of club members.
Article VII: AMENDMENTS Amendments must be presented to all voting members in writing. Amendments must be approved by the Student Government Association.
Article VIII: RATIFICATION This constitution must be ratified by the Student Government Organization.
