May Day 2006 in New London: Un Mundo Sin Fronteras! (1-MAY-2k6)

CCLeft organized over 80 students to join Centro de La Comunidad downtown in New London in their march for immigrant rights. We took to the street for an hour before rallying at the soldiers and sailors' monument, where CCLefter Daniel Meltzer was one of many who addressed an audience of 500.

Student Activism Conference (10-DEC-2k5)

CCLeft put together an activism conference on December 10th, 2005, with the help of SAVE, Sprout!, Feminist Majority, Amnesty International, Renewable Energy Club, and others. It was in Blaustein, from about 11am-3pm, and was a rousing success. See y'all next semester for round 2, which will be sponsored by many groups, rather than vanguarded by CCLeft.

Coke Alternatives Table. (9-DEC-2k5)

CCLeft Tabled against Coca-Cola by providing alternative sodas to various Coca-Cola Sodas, and Juices instead of Odwalla. Yes, Odwalla is a Coca-Cola product.

Mock Terror Attack (4-APR-2k5)

CCLeft went to town with Southeast CT Peace and Justice to say "No!" to bullshit drills that are designed to scare the general populace into continuing to support a system that is slowly killing us all. It was a fun day.

Autonomous Zone Banner

CCLeft made an excellent banner and hung it off the side of 360.

Support Black Revolutionaries Banner (29-JAN-2k5)

CCLeft made an excellent banner to celebrate Martin Luther King weekend at Connecticut College.

Counter-Inaugural (20-JAN-2k5)

CCLeft went down to Washington D.C. to party in the streets for social justice. (pictures from websites, UPDATED 3-FEB-2k5 with Bethany's Pictures)

Die-In in Harris (16-NOV-2k4)

CCLeft lay on the floor in Harris as the body count from Iraq rose from 1196 when we met to make the banner to 1201 when we returned from Harris.

Banner Drops and Radical Chalking at Cro (10-NOV-2k4)

CCLeft made some banners (which got torn down by fascists) and chalked all sorts of fun things on the Crozier-Williams student center.

David Cobb, Green Party Candidate for president 2004, Speaks at Connecticut College! (29-OCT-2k4)

CCLEFT and the New London Greens brought David Cobb to Blaustein's Ernst Common Room to talk to the students of Connecticut College and the people of New London. Many were inspired as he talked about real change in the U.S. and how that would have to happen.

BANNER DROP against Cheney! (19-May-2k4)

CCLEFT dropped banners from the highway overpass proteSting Dick Cheney's policies on the Iraq war the day he spoke at the Coast Guard Academy's commencement. Though swiftly taken down by campus safety, many motorists had already seen and responded to them.

Mayday 2004 (1-MAY-2k4)

CCLEFT staged a lighthearted little drum circle aside Floralia (the school's spring festival) to remember those killed in Haymarket Square and to commemorate the anniversary of the 8-hour workday. People came to participate and dance in the festivities.

CACEROLAZO in D.C. against the International Monetary Fund and World Bank (24-APR-2k4)

CCLeft and about 2000 other folks showed up for a cacerolazo, a protest where one bangs on pots and pans and buckets in protest of a wrong done to a community. The Cacerolazo is quickly becoming THE form of protest for anti-globilazation movements. We had a lot of fun, and neither of the two arrests were members of CCLeft. (UPDATED 3-MAY-2k4 with a couple pix from the women's march)

MoveOn.Org's Back Back The White House Bake Sale (17-APR-2k4)

CCBake makes cookies, cookie-bars, cupcakes, and many other items. CCLeft becomes a MoveOn.org Ranger and raises 160-something dollars for MoveOn.org PAC. It was fun, and tasty, and the shirts we made were spiffy.

Showing of UNCOVERED: The Whole Truth About the Iraq War (20-FEB-2k4)

A tremendous success, with about 150 people present. College Republicans staged a BushCo. rally outside of Olin, Homebaked cookies were served, CCLeft had to give up its seats to accommodate the amount of people who came to see the movie, a deep discussion on foreign policy followed, with about 20-30 people participating.
