CCLEFT Thanks the Community, Encourages Further Political Activity

CCLeft

Letter to the Editor

Dear Editors:

CCLEFT would like to thank all those who registered to vote at our table at the OVCS fair on Monday. We registered over 50 people in two hours. Though CCLEFT supports all those on the left from those moderate liberals to hard leftists, our goal is to encourage an active role in politics, for which voting is of paramount importance.

The percentage of youth who voted in the last presidential election was a dismal 37%. A higher youth turnout would have made a dramatic difference in the election results. CCLEFT would like to see every eligible vote be cast in the upcoming primaries and in the coming general election, because we take an activist role in political thought. Casting a vote for a candidate is the easiest way to effect change.

The Connecticut Democratic Primary will be held on March 2nd. This is your first chance to choose the leader of this country. CCLEFT has compiled information on each of the candidates running. This flyer, though ubiquitous in your dorm bathrooms (we hope!), can also be taken from the web at: http://oak.conncoll.edu/~dnmel/demcans.htm. CCLEFT encourages the use of this and any tools to inform oneself on the candidates.

Thank you again for participating in your democratic process. If you missed the registration table, CCLEFT will have a table on the first floor of Cro during the next week to register people for March 2nd’s Connecticut Democratic Primary. If you register before February 26th, you will still be eligible to vote in said primary. Happy voting, and keep fighting!
