Think a little more please

It’s interesting that our soon to be President elect campaign slogan was about Change, because it seem to be in the atmosphere before the election started. Think about it, would this campaign slogan work if everyone was already subconsciously thinking about it. It seems that Mr. Obama is taking over the mind and heart of everyone around the world. Even the little island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines where I was born there was excitement from everyone young and old. This just makes me wonder why am I not i so exciting about him being elected? I know American history, African American history, yet there is no excitement in my body. Just wondering what changes are going to happen in the four years. A part of me can’t help to think about the LIGHT SKIN African American is the one who was elected to be President. I have nothing against light skin African American my father who I love dearly is LIGHT SKIN. Just sit back and think for a second imagine if Mr.Obama wasn’t half white or was a DARK SKIN African American would he have gotten as far as he did. Don’t miss understand me I’m not a pessimist, very far from it, but that’s what I’ve been thinking about and discussing with people.

I was on the sales floor in Target and I was helping a guest (customer) and she was looking for a particular bag to go to the inauguration of President Obama. So I asked her with a smiling face, “Do you have tickets to the inauguration?” She said “NO”. At this point I smile and began to think that the bag was going to cost her $17.99, nice outfit $$, her bus ride $, or if she was taking the train $$, and what if she was driving gas $. All this would be priceless to this middle age African American woman, who doesn’t have tickets for the inauguration. My next train of thought was, I thought we were in a recession how is this woman not going to work on Tuesday, and covering her expenses. How come in an economy where everyone is working harder than ever to keep their jobs she’s missing working and spending money to go to an inauguration. I guess credit cards are convenient, or being rich help pay the bills.
