Bluff Point State Park, Groton, CT

Description: There are over 7 miles of trails for biking and hiking on this peninsula that juts out into the Long Island Sound. Gorgeous views of the sound are available from most of the main trails. There are some very intense routes for mountain bikers if one goes off the main path.

Activites: Kayaking (if you have your own kayak), swimming, hiking, biking, and fishing.

Directions from Conn: Go north on I-95 to the Groton Route 1 exit. Then drive on Route 1, past the main strip mall area, until you see depot road on the right. Turn right. Then there is a sign for the entrance to Bluff Point after about 1/4 of a mile. Parking is available at the park.

Devil's Hopyard State Park, East Haddam, CT

Description: A great day trip!! Lots of trails in the woods. A great stream runs through the park with a beautiful waterfall. There are also beautiful scenic overlooks. Fun challenges can be found by going off the marked trails.

Activities: Hiking, picnic, and camping.

Directions from Conn: About a 40 minute drive from Conn. Go up Route 85 (the road that Crystal Mall is on), and then turn left onto Route 82. Turn right where you see a sign for Devil's Hopyard, and then drive to the second parking lot/picnic area.
