The Shwiffs, Connecticut College’s first a cappella group, not to mention one of the nation’s oldest all-female a cappella groups, was founded in 1944. Inspired by the Yale Whiffenpoofs, the nation’s first a cappella group, we first called ourselves The She-Whiffenpoofs. Today, The Shwiffs are a dynamic group of twelve talented young women, freshmen to seniors, singing a variety of music from pop to folk to oldies. The Shwiffs rehearse for 8 or more hours each week and perform both on and off campus. We all share a passion for harmony, strong diaphrams and like all classy females, Franzia Blush boxed wine. We just released our brand new CD entitled "Blush" and we recently hosted a reunion to celebrate sixty years of musical excellence, performance, and camaraderie. |
