In 2007 a team composed of Connecticut College faculty, administrators, staff, and a student began the work of planning for the stabilization, restoration, and adaptive reuse of the House of Steel. So far, their efforts have included:
historical research
conservation research
documentation
publicity
grant writing
completion of temporary measures (tarps) intended to stem moisture damage on the interior
initial steps toward architectural planning and fund-raising for construction
rust protection measures
The team continues to work on preservation planning in anticipation of a restoration/adaptive reuse project |
